Škoda Auto-Volkswagen Begins Production of Skoda Kylaq in Chakan, Pune, Focuses on ‘Make in India’ Initiative

Pune, Chakan, 13 December 2024 : Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) announced the Start of Production (SoP) of the Škoda Kylaq at its best manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. This milestone marks the Group’s commitment to innovation, localization, and customer-centric offerings.

Škoda Kylaq is built with a strong focus on the “Make in India” initiative, as it is engineered and manufactured locally to meet the company’s highest standards. This is the fifth model from the Group to be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform with a high level of local production. The Škoda Kylaq is designed around four key features: safety, comfort, quality, and global design. Additionally, SAVWIPL has increased its local supplier base by 10% to improve production speed and reduce ownership costs.

What is the exact on-road price of Skoda Kylaq – Manual and Automatic ?

As per the Skoda press release, Kylaq Manual Prices starts from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh. And for automatic Skoda Kylaq Prices start from Rs 10.59 lakh (all prices are introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). Skoda Kylaq top model price will be 14.40 lakh.

Skoda is offering the Kylaq in four different broad types : Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige.

1. Classic , Price Starts from 7.89 Lakh
2. Signature, Price Starts from 9.59 Lakh
3. Signature Plus, Price Starts from 11.40 Lakh
4. Prestige, Price Starts from 13.35 Lakh

Skoda Kylaq launch date :

In India it is launched on 2 December, and bookings is started on the same day. The deliveries will be start from 27 January, 2025.

Skoda Kylaq safety rating :

As of now official safety is not announced for Kylaq. Skoda India brand director, Petr Janeba, said that they would send recently launched Kylaq compact SUV for the Bharat NCAP crash safety evaluation. Company is targeting a 5-star safety rating for the new model, the crash test results are expected to come in February 2025. In India safety rating will be done by Bharat NCAP.

What is the meaning Skoda Kylaq ?

The name is derived from the Sanskrit term for a crystal [sphatika (स्फटिक)] and is named after Mount Kailash.
