Pimpri Chinchwad Cancels Metro Pillar Beautification Plan

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has cancelled its plan to beautify metro pillars. Metro pillars beautification supposed to happen on the Pimpri-Dapodi route. Earlier Rs 5.74 crore fund allocated for this project. The main aim of this project was to beautify the pillars with with the help of electric illumination. This plan canceled because of “objections and lack of interest from Maha Metro”. Instead, now the fund will be allocated to upgrade the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital.

YCM Hospital UPS Upgrade :

The YCM Hospital currently have four UPS systems of 80 KVA. This UPS were installed back in 2011. Currently this UPS system providing the power to different areas of hospital. Which includes 9 operation theatres, 3 large ICUs, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and lecture halls. But these UPS systems have been frequently failing, posing a risk to the hospital’s operations, especially in emergencies.

The total cost to install the new UPS system is Rs 1.20 crore. Rs 40 lakh from the original budget for beautifying the metro pillars will now be used to upgrade the hospital’s UPS system. This change will help to improve the hospital’s power supply. This new UPS system will provide a reliable power supply. Which is essential for the hospital’s emergency and intensive care units.

This decision to reallocate the funds is already approved during a general meeting. The approval came from, PCMC commissioner and administrator, Shekhar Singh.
