Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO: Deadline for High-Security Number Plates(HSRP) Set for March 31

Pune, High-Security Number Plates(HSRP) : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has come up with a new deadline. As per that, it is mandatory for vehicles registered before 2019 to get High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Vehicle owners must complete this by March 31, 2024. This rule makes Maharashtra follow other states where HSRPs are already needed.
In 2019, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways made a rule for all new vehicles to have High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs). But older vehicles needed separate rules from each state. Now, the Maharashtra transport department has decided to make a rule. As per new rule, it is mandatory for all vehicles registered before 2019 to get HSRPs across the state.
Private Agency Appointed for Pimpri-Chinchwad Jurisdiction
A private agency will do the installation of HSRPs in the Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO area. The agency will also covers Pune district’s Khed, Junnar, Maval, and Lonavala talukas.
How to Get High-Security Number Plates(HSRP):

Vehicle owners should go to the official website of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Department at https://transport.maharashtra.gov.in.

They need to sign up on the booking portal and choose a time slot for HSRP installation.

Once the slot is confirmed, the assigned agency will install the plates.
HSRP Installation Charges:

Two-wheelers: ₹450

Three-wheelers: ₹500

Four-wheelers: ₹745
Importance of HSRPs:
High-Security Registration Plates help in identifying vehicles easily and prevent theft. They have special features like tamper-proof designs and unique laser codes.
The RTO officials said that, A private agency has been chosen to manage the installation in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. We are asking vehicle owners to follow this rule and get HSRPs on their vehicles before March 31.
