PCMC Takes Action: Nighttime Construction Ban to Cut Down Noise Pollution
Pune: Recently PCMC received many complaints from citizens regarding the noise pollution. Now Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken the action against noise pollution. They have enforced a ban on construction work during the night, from 10 PM to 7 AM. It will help to cut down on noise pollution and disturbances.
To help conserve water, the PCMC has made it mandatory for new housing projects to install separate water meters for each unit. Before giving home possession to buyers, builders must install aerator taps. Aerator Taps will help to minimize the water waste, .
Eco-Friendly Initiatives in Construction to Avoid Noise Pollution
To manage the increasing amount of construction and demolition waste. The PCMC has come up with the below rules,

Now builders can process 150 metric tons of waste daily.

Also builders must use at least 10% recycled materials, like paving blocks, in their projects.
If builders do not follow these rules, they will not receive occupancy certificates.
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh highlighted the importance of these actions. He further said “We are addressing the concerns of citizens. Also working towards environmentally sustainable growth. By focusing on water conservation, waste management, and green practices, we aim to create a city that is ready for the future.”

Citizens can register a complaint about noise pollution with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) through the SARATHI helpline at 8888 00 6666.
They can also contact the PCMC by calling 91-020-2742-5511/12/13/14 or 67333333.
Also they can call the police helpline at 112 if the noise is between 10 PM and 6 AM and doesn’t comply with legal decibel limits.
