Illegal Party celebration in Bavdhan Hills : frustration among the locals, police FIR filed
Pune Bavdhan : Hundreds of residents were left sleepless after a celebration of illegal party in Bavdhan, with loud music playing from 7 pm on Sunday to 8:30 am on Monday. The party was held on a hill marked as a biodiversity zone, causing disturbance and frustration among the locals.
Throughout the night, several residents tried to contact the police to complain about the noise. However, immediate action not taken, around 70 frustasted residents gathered at the Bavdhan police station at 7:30 pm on Monday to file an official complaint. People from nearby Pashan and Baner areas also joined the protest.
A tax consultant from the bavdhan said, “I was woken up at 3 am by loud noise. Initially, it was not very loud, so I called the police on 112. They took out the address of the party and although the music stopped for about 10 minutes, it started again,”.
A senior citizen, lives on the other side of the hill said. “The spot is marked as a BDP (Biodiversity Park) zone. We often see animals like peacocks and deer there. But when tents were set up for the party, the animals ran away to hide,” he explained. The celebration continued till 9 am the next day.
Other residents were equally disturbed. An IT professional, shared, “My family and I could not sleep at all. Residents near the police station also complained about the noise. It is shocking that the police are not listening despite making so many complaints. How can they? Let this happen, especially in a biodiversity zone?”
Frustration grew as the police did not seem to be doing much to deal with the situation. Dushyant Bhatia, co-director of Bavdhan Nagarik Manch, said, “We went to the police station on Monday. The officials said that they had already registered a complaint, but we insisted on filing another one. The police accepted our complaint and assured us to investigate.”
Bavdhan police senior inspector Anil Vibhute confirmed the complaint. “We have already issued a challan to the organisers regarding the noise pollution. We will decide on the next steps after taking legal advice,” he said.
Residents of Bavdhan are calling for stricter enforcement of noise regulations, especially in areas meant to protect the environment. Many feel that the police need to take swift action in such cases to avoid future disturbances.
