Drunk Dumper Driver Kills Nine in Tragic Wagholi Accident
Pune : A tragic accident happened at Kesnand Phata in Wagholi, Pune. A fast-moving dumper truck ran over 12 people who were sleeping on the footpath. Three people, including two children and their uncle, died on the spot. The people who died were Vaibhavi Ritesh Pawar (1), Vaibhav Ritesh Pawar (2), and Rinesh Nitesh Pawar (30 years old).
Six other people were badly hurt, with three in very serious condition. They were taken to Sassoon Hospital for help. The victims were workers who had just come to Pune from Amravati for jobs. They were sleeping on the pavement when the truck hit them.
The accident happened between midnight, between 12 am and 1 am. It was right across from the Wagholi Police Station. The dumper driver was drunk at the time. The workers were doing daily-wage work and had set up a place to sleep temporarily. Many workers are from other parts of Maharashtra and nearby states.
This is very sad event and shows how dangerous drunk driving can be. It is very unsafe living conditions for migrant workers.
What did Rohit Pawar say about “Drunk Dumper Driver case Wagholi”?
In his post on X account, Rohit Pawar raised a question about whether poor people have the right to live. He said, “If you are poor, have no roof over your head, and the earth is your bed while the sky is your blanket, then even if you are crushed to death like ants, no one cares. This is the situation we face. In Wagholi Kesnand, a drunk dumper driver became death itself for workers who had come from Amravati to earn a living. They were resting on the roadside after a long day of work. Three of them, including two children, died with empty stomachs, while six others are still fighting for their lives. Why do such heart-wrenching incidents keep happening? Do the poor not have the right to live?”
