Good News for IT Professionals: Metro Plans to Connect Hinjewadi and Kharadi IT Parks

Pune Metro - New line between Hinjewadi and Kharadi IT Parks

Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited is working on a project to connect the Hinjewadi and Kharadi IT parks. An event was organized to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Pune’s Shramik Patrakar Sangh. At the event, Neha Pandit, the Director of the project, shared that these two important areas will be linked in the future. This is great news for people working in the IT industry or those planning to join it. At present, the metro line between Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi develoment work is going on . This line is developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). They used a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Pandit also spoke about the topic, “Connecting IT Hubs and Central Pune via Metro: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event also inaugurated the union’s new website.

She explained that before starting any metro project, careful studies are done. There are few factors considered while studying the metro projects. Some of the factors are

  1. How the public will get benefit?
  2. The metro project area’s geography
  3. Whether the project is financially possible
  4. Land acquisition

Out of these factors, Land acquisition is a key factor of the process. Because according to government rules, construction begins only after 90% of the needed land is acquired.

Metro Plans to Connect Hinjewadi and Kharadi IT Parks

The Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi metro line is being built with the help of a German private company, with an investment of ₹7,000 crore. Now plans are to expand the metro network to connect Hinjewadi and Kharadi. That will make the easier transportation for the IT industry.

Pandit also highlighted the progress in metro technology. She mentioned that Pune’s metro system uses modern automated trains. Older systems in abroad are depends on Remote Sensing System. But Pune’s metro uses advanced “third Rail” technology, which removes the need for overhead wires. “Third Rail” technology runs on high-voltage electric current.

Pandit further highlighted the importance of public involvement. She encouraged people to use the metro for safer and faster travel. She pointed out features designed by Pune metro. This features designed in a such way that will benefit the passengers. Some of features are large glass windows for better views, automated glass doors, and a modern design.

As Pune’s metro network growing very fast. The project aims to make public transport more easily accessible and reliable. Especially for the city’s expanding IT sector workforce.
