Five Youth Workers Robbed by Auto Rickshaw Drivers Near Pune Railway Station: Shocking Incident

Pune News : Five youth workers robbed of ₹6,100 by an autorickshaw driver and his friend. The incident happened near Pune railway station, on December 30 around 6:00 AM. The autorickshaw driver offered ride to the victim, then he took him to a quiet place. There driver and his friend threatened and hit the victim before stealing his money.

After taking the money, the robbers ran away, leaving the victim scared. The victim quickly reached to Bund Garden police station and reported the robbery to the police.

Police Investigation : Five Youth Workers Robbed

Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad is handling the case. Bund Garden’s Assistant Nandakumar Inspector Kadam is further investigating the case.

Kadam stated that on Wednesday that a 20-year-old worker, Vishnu Chavan from Chakan robbed by autorickshaw driver. Vishnu had gone to Pune railway station to pick up his four friends coming from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Kadam further said that the four friends, who were looking for work, took an autorickshaw to reach Chakan. But the driver asked them to take another autorickshaw to fit all five people in two vehicles. The driver called another rickshaw, with three people in one and two in another.

The two vehicles later stopped at a parking area, where the five men were robbed of ₹1,200. The robbers also forced Chavan to transfer Rs 4900 to one of the driver’s e-wallets before driving off. Scared, the men reported the robbery to the police, and Chavan filed a complaint. An FIR for robbery was registered on December 31.

The police are checking CCTV footage and following leads to find the vehicles and the drivers. They hope to solve the case soon.

Police have noticed an increase in robbery cases, with over 167 thefts involving mobile phones, jewelry, and cash reported last year.
